About the Journal

As of August 2021, The Journal of Developmental Education (JDE) is an open-access, peer-reviewed publication. JDE remains committed to the scholarly exchange of information and ideas related to the practice, theory, research, and news of the postsecondary developmental education community. 

The Journal of Developmental Education publishes research articles, research briefs, and practice briefs. Editorial priority is placed on manuscripts that relate the practical significance of theory and/or research to teaching, learning, student experiences, student development, making connections between research, practice, and implications. 

The journal encourages the submission of manuscripts by scholars and practitioners in any relevant academic field. JDE's content focuses on basic skills education, developmental education issues and activities, support systems, and counseling.
